Our founder, Heather Jeffcoat, DPT spoke with Huffington Post writer, Ashley Broadwater about something unexpected that we really don't talk about enough... Pooping!
If it makes you feel any better, according to the article, "Constipation is the most common gastrointestinal complaint, leading to 2.5 million doctor visits a year." And to keep in line with the unexpected, blowing bubbles is a tried and true trick for alleviating such discomfort.
So how does it work? Heather says, “The force is enough that you want to make it audible, as if you are doing a ‘breathy whistle’ where someone 20 feet away could still hear you.” This means all you really need to do is exhale. But if your kids are suffering from bouts of conspitation, the bubble trick could be a fun solution! So grab a straw and a glass of water for an innovative visual cue activity for the kiddos to try out.
And as always, Heather wants you to remember to consult with your physician. She says, “If constipation is ongoing, especially if straining is associated with it, you will likely have medical assessments to determine what the specific issues are when you have a bowel movement.”
