I can’t speak highly enough of the theapists at Femina Physical Therapy and how much they have helped me grow, discover, and love my body. I had had painful sex for my entire life, and didn’t know that there was anything that could be done about it. It was at the point where my husband and I were not having sex for MONTHs, because it was just too frustrating, and I hated feeling like I was the ONLY woman out there who had this problem, especially at my age. I finally brought it up to my doctor because I was turning 40 and my husband and I were barely having enough sex to conceive. And she brought up pelvic floor, PT. I didn’t even know this was a “thing”.
I LOVE their energy, and I feel like they are totally in tune with every muscle in that area. We laughed a lot during our sessions, and I also learned a lot. They are really able to not only help you understand the old habits of your muscles, but also to get really connected on a “mind-body” level. They are really really phenomenal at their job. It’s a pretty awesome bond to know someone who can actually help you work out this personal issue. They really know how to help you navigate the emotions, the embarrassment, the fear, the frustration, and come out on the OTHER side of it.
Today, I’m able to have pain free SEX, and I can happily and TRULY say my husband and I are officially trying to conceive! I don’t feel fear and dread around intimacy, because I have a lot more trust in myself and my body, that whatever I want to happen, can happen. It's HUGE. I feel like I know myself more than many other women, who have been having sex for years. I feel confident, and healthier, because all aspects of myself, AND this power source of myself, is active, and happy too. For anyone who feels a little shy, or embarrassed, or just scared to do Pelvic Floor PT, I’d say just GO, and try it. It’s a journey, but it’s totally worth it.
