A Simple Remedy for Summertime Travel and Constipation
It’s been a month since our last newsletter, as our team has been enjoying some much needed fun in the sun. Along with summer travel often comes changes in eating and drinking habits. You may have noticed how going off of your normal diet affects your bowel health, typically in the form of constipation. In this issue we want to dedicate supporting you and your bowel health--and help get things moving again!
First things first – what does it mean to be constipated? Get your learning started in our intro article “Chronic Constipation: The Basics” then head on over to “How to Have Your Best Poop Ever”.
Are you better with videos? Take a look at my viral video on Instagram on the right way to help stimulate your bowel movements (and leave a comment about your thoughts on the bodysuit). Make sure to share with all your traveling friends so they can keep their routines intact, too!
We also have EXCITING news to share with our newsletter subscribers first. We will be relocating our Montrose office to Pasadena in a few short weeks. For our patients, we’ll contact you prior to your appointment to provide you with an update. And for those of you that like renovation shows, these pictures of the “Pasadena office in the making” are for you! We are so happy to bring our world-class and innovative pelvic, pregnancy, postpartum, menopause and orthopedic support services to Pasadena! Contact our office to schedule your visit in Pasadena or any of our other LA office locations to get back on the path to better health.
As always thank you so much for being a subscriber to our newsletter, and remember that you can also stay in touch by following us on InstaGram at @feminapt and @dr.heatherjeffcoat.
That's it for now, see you next week!

Clear communication is essential to working with doctors, but the general public often has only a rudimentary understanding of medical terms - including constipation. (1, 2, 7, 10) A study of people who thought they had constipation showed that only a third actually fit the criteria for constipation, while the rest actually had Irritable Bowel Syndrome or other gastrointestinal disorders. (9) So what are the criteria for constipation?

Let's Discuss Some Solutions for Chronic Constipation
"Chronic constipation can have detrimental effects to daily life..."
Constipation is an extremely common symptom that has been reported to affect 63 million people in North America.1 Chronic constipation can have detrimental effects to daily life and is known to increase psychological distress and impair health related quality of life. These interventions fail to improve symptoms in about 50% of patients whom they are prescribed.2 If you find that you continue to struggle with constipation, there are many lifestyle changes one can adopt that can have a profound effect on symptoms including decreased frequency, straining, and pain with bowel movements.
