Nancy H. Wong, OTD, OTR/L, RYT
Occupational Therapist, Registered Yoga Therapist
As an occupational therapist, Nancy (she/her/hers) believes in empowering clients with the tools and confidence they need to find and maintain whole body health - whether it is a personalized yoga routine to address tight muscle groups, or a nightly relaxation routine to promote rest and pain reduction. Her clinical approach utilizes compassionate communication, active listening, respectful touch, and client collaboration throughout the treatment process.
With a background in yoga therapy, mindfulness meditation, and bodywork, Nancy is keenly aware of the mind-body connection. Clients can expect individualized treatment using modalities including functional movement training, therapeutic exercise, and manual therapy including trigger point release, soft tissue manipulation, connective tissue manipulation, myofacial release, Thai massage, and Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage.
Nancy is trilingual in Spanish, Cantonese and English. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Community Development from Portland State University and spent her early career in health policy and NGO work.
Nancy received her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree from Pacific University and was the first doctoral student to complete a rotation in pelvic floor health at Motivate Personal Rehabilitation in Rockford, IL. During her time there she decided to focus her career on helping those with both female and male anatomy regain control of their pelvic floor issues including urinary and bowel incontinence, chronic constipation, urgency and frequency, pain with intercourse, prolapse, pelvic pain, and orthopedic issues relating to pregnancy.
Nancy has completed courses through Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute on the evaluation and treatment of female and male pelvic floor dysfunction. Additionally, she completed a 200 hour yoga teacher certification through the Lotus Seed School in Portland, OR. She is also trained in basic and advanced levels of Thai massage through the Loi Kroh School of Massage and Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage through the Omsala School in Chiangmai, Thailand.
Nancy is happy to offer culturally competent care to the community at Femina Physical Therapy in our Sherman Oaks office.
