3rd Annual Girl's Night Out Recap

Thanks to all who came out and joined in on the fun at the third annual Girls Night Out, this year hosted by Big & Tiny Silver Lake, a beautifully designed coworking space for families that provides educational programming and childcare.

We had a night of informative and fun conversations about pelvic and sexual health with Dr. Kimberly Resnick Anderson (Sex Therapist and host of the Sex Savvy podcast), Heather Jeffcoat, DPT (owner of Femina Physical Therapy) and Lisa Valle, D.O. (Oasis Women’s Sexual Function Center).

The Book

Sex Without Pain, the Book

Sex Without Pain book by Heather JeffcoatWomen looking for treatment for vaginismus, painful intercourse, vulvodynia, vulvar vestibulitis, vestibulodynia, dyspareunia, interstitial cystitis, incontinence, problems with vaginal penetration such as tampon insertion, and other pelvic floor issues have all benefited from our unique physical therapy programs.

Thanks to Heather Jeffcoat's orthopaedic background, she approaches treatment of these muscles like they are....muscles! She utilizes a self-treatment tool called a dilator to provide massage and other muscle relaxation and stretching techniques in a gentle fashion to return a woman's vaginal muscles back to a resting, rather than guarded, state. Her book Sex Without Pain: A Self-Treatment Guide To The Sex Life You Deserve covers all of these issues in a clear, concise, and easy to read way.

Welcome to our site! Femina PT (located inside Fusion Wellness & Physical Therapy). Why did we launch a new brand? Since graduating from Duke University, I have always had a passion for treating my female patients throughout the lifespan. I want to reach as many women as possible and empower them with the tools and knowledge so that they can be their 100% best during pregnancy, postpartum, when trying to conceive, gaining and maintaining a healthy sex life and take care of the many symptoms they have that are TREATABLE!

Far too often women have been told by doctors and even some sex therapists that the concerns and physical problems they have are normal. In fact, they are common. Peeing on yourself, having painful intercourse, having to go to the bathroom 10+ times per day and many other symptoms that women experience throughout their lives are far from normal. I want women to know that their problems are real and happen to many other women, but should not be normalized. Common ≠ Normal.

Our fully licensed staff is experienced, compassionate, and highly trained in pelvic floor therapy. Pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, issues with various pelvic organs, and primary vaginismus can all interfere with normally pleasurable sexual intercourse, and specialized pelvic sex therapy by a pelvic floor physical therapist can do wonders for not only your sexual wellbeing, but your overall health and enjoyment of life.

Thank you for stopping by,
Heather Jeffcoat, DPT

Femina PT (née Fusion Wellness & Physical Therapy) has honestly changed my life. Before receiving treatment at Femina, I was going to doctor to doctor to try and find the answer to my pelvic pain. It has taken me YEARS to find someone that can help fix this. It wasn't until my gynecologist recommended your clinic that I finally felt relief. My pelvic pain is almost gone, and granted I still have a lot more to work on with Laureen (my PT), my original problem is nearly cured. I am so grateful to...

My last appointment with Heather was over 6 years ago but I still think of her every day. I don’t take for granted that I can easily get out of bed, care for my two active and busy young boys, run, play tennis, clean my house, or sit at a desk for several hours at a time. None of these tasks were easy for me before meeting Heather. Eight years ago my car was struck from behind by a tractor trailer that was estimated to have been speeding. I spent 3 years working with different PTs and Drs...

After having my second baby via C-section I searched for months to try to find help for my lower back pain and separated abdominal muscles. I finally came across Heather Jeffcoat via a mommy blog. I reached out to her via email and set my first appointment. My first appointment went amazing … she listened to what my symptoms, check my separation and explained to me in detail what the next steps would be. Not only did my abdominal separation go from 3 to about 1 -1/2 but my back has pain has...

As someone who suffered the debilitating physical and emotional effects of vaginismus (as well as a complicated history of back injuries) for more than 15 years, I thought a "normal" life was just a fantasy. Then I found Heather.

My husband and I were having problems with painful intercourse. My therapist recommended that I go and get a pelvic floor evaluation from a physical therapist. Having never been treated by a physical therapist, I wondered how this really was going to help me. My husband who is a physician was very supportive and agreed that a PT evaluation would be a great idea. So i made the appointment and was blown away by what i learned. I had no idea that pelvic floor muscles could get tight and have...
